Three-zone climate control

Whether reversing out of a busy parking lot or trying to squeeze into a tricky spot, an extra set of eyes is always handy. The Rear View Camera displays a live picture on your screen that shows not only what’s behind you, but also multi-angle views and dynamic guidance lines, which all come together to make reversing safer and easier.

Multi-collision brake3
Prevent follow-on collisions.
When the airbag sensors detect a collision, this state-of-the-art system applies the brakes to slow down the vehicle so that a secondary impact will be lessened or avoided. During braking, the hazard and brake lights are illuminated and remain activated. The driver can take over at any time.

Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP)3
A good steer on safety.
Helps you stay in control of your vehicle by preventing under or over steering. If your vehicle starts to skid, the Electronic Stabilisation Program will apply the brakes to individual wheels and adjust the engine’s power output to correct the problem.

Park Assist3
Parking’s a piece of cake.
Using sensors on either side of the front bumper, together with parking distance sensors front and rear, Park Assist actively helps you 90 degree park, back into a park and get in and out of a parallel park.

Front Assist with City Emergency Brake3
Stay on the front foot around other drivers.
Using a radar sensor, Front Assist detects when the vehicle in front is too close. It will warn you and prepare the car for braking. If nothing changes, it partially applies the brakes giving you a better chance of avoiding or minimising a collision. When you’re travelling below 30km/h, City Emergency Brake will prepare the brakes if a collision is likely. If the driver doesn’t brake, the system will do it automatically.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)3
Smart cruising at the flick of a switch.
An upgrade on the conventional cruise control system, Adaptive Cruise Control employs the use of a radar sensor which, once you select your speed range, monitors the road ahead for other vehicles and adapts your speed accordingly – allowing you to maintain a safe distance when driving.

The Passat comes with nine airbags, including front driver and passenger, side front and rear, curtain front and rear and driver’s knee airbag. So if something does go wrong, you’ll be pleased you’re in a Passat.
Electronic Differential Lock

When cornering, this valuable safety system responds to the load relief at the front wheel on the inside of a corner, which improves traction and reduces the tendency to understeer.
